AEO & AI Search

Be Understood by the Systems That Answer Questions.

Search increasingly returns answers rather than lists of links. Answer Engine Optimisation is the work of making your business easy for search engines and AI systems to find, understand and recommend.

What has changed

People still search, but a growing share of those searches end in a generated answer — inside Google, inside AI assistants, inside tools embedded in other products. The answer is assembled from sources those systems can read, interpret and trust. If your business is hard to interpret, it is not part of the answer, and the visit never happens.

What we can and cannot say about this

Nobody outside those companies knows exactly how any individual AI system selects or ranks its sources, and the mechanics change often. We do not make claims about that. What we can do is remove the practical reasons a system would fail to understand your business: missing information, vague claims, unstructured pages, inconsistent details and a thin public footprint.

What actually helps

  • Clear, direct answers to the real questions your customers ask, stated plainly and early on the page
  • First-party expertise — what you specifically know, do, price, serve and stand behind
  • Authoritative content that goes past summary and demonstrates genuine depth
  • Structured information so services, locations, people and offerings are machine-readable
  • Entity clarity — consistent naming and description of your business everywhere it appears
  • Useful FAQs and knowledge assets that cover the questions around the buying decision
  • Citations and mentions on credible sources beyond your own website
  • Strong digital assets worth referencing in the first place
  • Search authority built through information people and systems can rely on

How we approach it

We look at how your business is currently described across your own site and the wider web, where the description is thin, contradictory or missing, and which questions in your market have no credible first-party answer. Then we build that information properly, structure it so it can be parsed, and connect it to the rest of your search foundations. The same work improves traditional search visibility — it is not a separate track.

What we actually build

Answer-ready pages

Pages that state the answer clearly, then support it with the detail, evidence and context a careful reader needs.

Entity and business clarity

Consistent, precise description of who you are, what you offer and where you operate, across your site and key external profiles.

Structured data

Schema for organisation, services, locations, people, products and FAQs so information can be read without guesswork.

Knowledge assets

Definitive explanations, glossaries, comparisons and FAQ resources covering the questions your market actually asks.

First-party expertise content

Material only your business can write — real methods, real constraints, real judgement — rather than restated common knowledge.

Citation and mention groundwork

Making your business referenceable, and present on the credible sources where it should already appear.

Questions we get asked

Is AEO different from SEO?
It overlaps heavily. Both depend on crawlable, credible, well-structured information. AEO puts more weight on answering questions directly, describing your business unambiguously and making information machine-readable.
Can you guarantee our business will appear in AI answers?
No, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does. We make your business as easy as possible to find, understand and reference. Selection remains the platform's decision.
Do we need to write content specifically for AI?
Not in the sense of writing for a machine. The content that works is written for people who need a real answer, then structured so machines can parse it.
How do we know whether it is working?
Through Search Console performance, visibility for the questions we target, referral patterns from AI tools where they are measurable, and changes in enquiry quality. We report what is measurable and say plainly what is not.
